Course Details

We are one of the 4  equine dental academies in the nation. We offer a unique and highly specialized training program. While the overall medical care is the responsibility of the equine veterinarian, often these professionals have little time or energy available for dentistry. Yet most veterinarians and most horse professionals recognize that many health-related problems can be alleviated with proper dental care. Our qualified instructors will teach you the techniques to aid and improve the dental health of all horses.

The tuition for the four week class is $6200 (4460 Euro)

Our dental academy basic equine dentistry curriculum includes the following: A thorough four week introduction to the anatomy of the equine head, recognition of numeric tooth identification systems, discussions of professional ethics, and many hours practicing the learned techniques under the supervision of our knowledgeable instructors. See (Calendar) page for tuition fees for the session you are interested in. Housing is available at $500.00 to $700.00 at local bed and breakfast establishments or a clean small motel in the area. (See Links)

The class schedule is Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM (or whenever the last horse is finished). One Saturday will be available for more hands on experience.  At MEDA we pride ourselves in exposing our students to many wide varieties of dental problems in horses. We average 20 horses per student for practice work and learning. All students get to examine horses on which their classmates are working. This makes our graduates ready to take on many challenges they will encounter in their careers.

NEW CLASSES!

Our Level Two class is a two to four week update. It is limited to graduates of our program who have been graduated for at least six months. Teaching and acting as stall leaders for the current level one students provides a great learning environment. This is a way to get the 300 hours of training now required by some states. More exposure to power instruments is offered.

Transtioning to Accurate Motorized is a four day class for graduates to learn the use of motorized equipment. We prefer students to learn the manual approach first, and then to copy that type of work with power equipment that is on the market today. Our  instuctor will show you and let you practice with guidance all the way. Emphasis is on doing less to help more in the mouth.
